WELCOME
Hi, I'm Danika. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.

I pride myself in being calm and approachable and providing a secure and supportive space for individuals and couples. Together we will collaborate on your journey using holistic and person-centered approaches to explore your relationship with yourself, others, and the world around you.

We will investigate barriers through deep listening, understanding, and validation. Additionally, we will implement self-exploration, self-regulation, or psychoeducational tools to help develop continued strategies for self-acceptance and development.

As an identity-affirming therapist, I provide a safe space for those who identify as LGBT2SQIA+ and those in all types of relationships. I also offer affirming therapeutic practices for those with a recent, questioning, or established ADHD diagnosis.

I draw from therapeutic modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and attachment theory, as well as Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Methods for couples counselling. I am proud to offer specialized training in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Trauma Therapy.
Beyond my professional role, I find fulfilment in outdoor pursuits, reading, and treasured moments with loved ones – including the rewarding and often messy journey of motherhood. If you are seeking a positive transformation in your life, reach out today for your free 15-minute consultation.

It would be a privilege to be a part of your story.
My Background

Growing up on the coast of British Columbia was a formative experience that shaped my connection to the natural world. The rugged beauty of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding landscapes instilled in me a deep appreciation for the intricate dance between land and sea. About ten years ago, I made a life-changing decision to move to the Okanagan region, captivated by its unique blend of vineyards, lakes, and mountains. This transition marked a new chapter, offering a different kind of beauty and providing space for personal and professional growth.

My background in teaching has been a fulfilling journey, marked by a teaching philosophy focused on connection and relationship building. This approach, emphasizing a sense of place, purpose, and inclusivity, has left a lasting impact on the students and colleagues I've had the privilege of engaging with. Throughout my career in education, my commitment to the well-being and growth of those I guide has remained a central tenet.
Beyond the classroom, my involvement in community volunteering reflects my belief in the power of collective action for positive change. This community-focused mindset extends beyond professional boundaries, influencing my participation in local organizations and initiatives dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for community members.

My journey into counselling unfolded naturally, fueled by a passion for understanding and assisting others in navigating life's complexities. Opting to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University was a decisive step, marking a deliberate shift toward a profession that allows me to explore the depths of the human experience and contribute meaningfully to individual well-being.

Outside of my professional pursuits, I find inspiration in my love of travel, delving into diverse cultures and landscapes that broaden my perspective. As an avid reader, I appreciate the transformative power of literature, embracing the nuanced stories that mirror the richness of the human experience. Quality time with loved ones, including my cherished role as a mother, completes the tapestry of my life, weaving together my passions, experiences, and the meaningful connections I nurture.

Warmly,

Danika
